Job Summary:
This position is responsible for purchasing a variety of commodities, supplies, equipment, services, and technology and construction projects for the College. These contracts frequently require special contract provisions or other specialized terms and conditions. Some contracts cover a period of more than one year. Contracts managed by this position include but are not limited to: office furniture, computer hardware and software (including services), telephone equipment and systems, audio visual and multimedia equipment, medical supplies, scientific equipment and vehicles. These projects may be complicated due to urgent delivery requirements; complex or sophisticated specifications such as specialized equipment or services needed to support occupational instruction; conversion from in-house to contract operations; negotiated contracts for specialized commodities and services. All work is performed in accordance with purchasing policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in any area. However, the following fields are preferred: accounting, business, marketing, contracts, construction management, economics, finance, industrial management, law, public administration, purchasing, supply chain management, or related business field.
Demonstrated experience working with requisitions and purchase orders.
Demonstrated experience working with the vendor community.
Knowledge and/or experience of the Banner Software System or similar enterprise resource planning system.
Knowledge of the basic principles of accounting.
Computer software skills (word processing and spreadsheet).
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Experience working with diverse groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications:
Obtain Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB) certification from the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council within 3 years of hire
