Job Summary:

LCC Student Newspaper Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Life and administers all aspects of the production of the student newspaper. The coordinator will manage the student newspaper staff, including hiring, guiding and supervising work schedules. Other responsibilities include instructing the student staff in journalism, photography, advertising and graphic design. The coordinator will generate, create and assign story ideas to the student staff for both online and in-print publication, following the appropriate codes of journalistic ethics and standards. The LCC Student Newspaper Coordinator will meet online and print deadlines, ensuring the accuracy and quality of all published work.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
Two years demonstrated experience in journalism and/or newspaper management.
Demonstrated experience working with newspaper page design and layout.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in communication, journalism or related field.
Experience working in a higher education setting.
