Job Summary:

Teach courses within Philosophy or Interdisciplinary Humanities (Art History, Classical Studies, Humanities, Philosophy, and Religious Studies) consistent with current developments in the disciplines and teaching methods. Both face-to-face and online courses will be assigned. Participate in program/department meetings and divisional/college-wide committees with a focus on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes. Participate in curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, scheduling courses for faculty, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing peers, and College initiatives. Work collaboratively with other colleagues as a member of Interdisciplinary Humanities (IH), understanding that the Philosophy Program goals and outcomes are interconnected with IH. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Philosophy (from a regionally accredited college or university), or a Master’s Degree (from a regionally accredited college or university) with a minimum of 18 semester graduate credits (or the equivalent number of quarter hours) in Philosophy.

College teaching experience as instructor of record in Philosophy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral Degree (from a regionally accredited college or university) in Philosophy or doctoral degree with + 18 semester graduate credits (or the equivalent number of quarter hours) in Philosophy.

Additional Master’s Degree in a humanities discipline (from a regionally accredited college or university) or a Master’s Degree (from a regionally accredited college or university) in a related field or a minimum of 18 semester graduate credits (or the equivalent number of quarter hours) in a humanities discipline.

College teaching experience as instructor of record in a humanities discipline.

Community college teaching experience as instructor of record.
