Job Summary:
The Assistant Track & Field Coach reports to the Athletic Director and works under the day-to-day direction of the Head Track & Field Coach in support of the Lansing Community College Track & Field program, with an emphasis on sprinting events. This position supports the recruitment and selection of student-athletes, instruction in Track & Field skills and techniques related to sprints, and preparation for practices and competitions. The Assistant Track & Field Coach also monitors student-athlete academic progress and coordination of program operations, including maintaining team statistics per MCCAA and NJCAA requirements. The incumbent promotes student-athlete success and represents the College in a professional manner while assisting in the administration of scheduling, travel, equipment and related team logistics. The position is expected to comply with applicable College, MCCAA, and NJCAA rules, policies and procedures and may be required to transport students using a college-owned vehicle as assigned.
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Two years coaching and/or competing in sprinting events for track & field.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet college requirements for operating a college-owned vehicle, if transportation duties are assigned.
Availability to work evenings, weekends and travel as required by the competition and recruiting schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher.
Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
One-year or more Track & Field coaching experience at the high school level or above.
Experience recruiting student-athletes and supporting academic success in a college athletics environment.
