Job Summary:
Teach courses in Spanish, consistent with current developments in the discipline and teaching methods. Participate in program/department meetings and divisional/college-wide committees with a focus on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes. Participate in curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing peers, and actively participate in College initiatives. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Spanish Studies or Master’s degree in a related field (e.g. linguistics, second-language acquisition, language pedagogy) with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish from a regionally accredited institution.
Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English languages.

Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Spanish Language from a regionally accredited college or University; or, PhD (from a regionally accredited college or university) in a related field and a minimum of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) of graduate-level coursework in the discipline.
College teaching experience.
Demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom and be able to use the technology required for assigned course(s).
Alternative Qualifications: If the candidate is in a PhD program in Spanish or a related field, without having a Master’s degree, then a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish studies is an alternative to the minimum Master’s degree qualifications. The coursework within the graduate hours must reflect competencies in the course(s) to be taught.
