Job Summary:
The Student Assistant Photographer combines technical proficiency with artistry to create images of people, animals, events, and objects. The Assistant Photographer will portray feelings, thoughts, and other information without the use of words using a camera, one or more lenses, and illumination devices, which they will use to record the elements of light and composition in unique and creative ways. The Assistant Photographer will carefully plan photos, as they are one of the signature elements in building awareness of LCC's brand. The resulting images should communicate the LCC brand promise. The photos should be close up, tightly cropped, and contain a shallow depth of field to focus attention on the primary activity depicted. Blurred motion, exaggerated vertical or horizontal cropping techniques, or unusual angles can be employed to accomplish this goal. Images should engage the viewer and tell a powerful story.
Required Qualifications: - Understand how to operate digital DSLRs (including the knowledge of shutter/aperture combinations to achieve desired creative results) - Be skilled in lighting accessory set up and the artistic application of same - Evaluate problems and deal with them calmly - Anticipate the needs of the photographer - Basic understanding of captioning and key wording used by image management software

Requirements for LCC Student Employment:
The primary purpose of student employment is to provide current LCC students the opportunity to acquire job skills and experiences during semesters in which they are attending classes as follows: • Enrolled and actively attending the following total LCC credit hours by semester - Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 credits minimum (taken over 16-week period) - Summer Semester = 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8-week period) • 2.00 GPA minimum (unless it’s student's first semester of enrollment at LCC and/or granted approval to waive requirement from the Student Employment Coordinator)
Note: International students (i.e. F-1 visa holders w/ valid I-20 issued by LCC) must meet the following minimum enrollment requirements each semester, in order to maintain employment eligibility per United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USICS): - Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 credits min. (taken over 16-week period) - Summer Semester = 3.0 credits min. (taken over 8-week period)
