Job Summary:

Adjunct Positions are filled by semester on an as needed basis. Applicants in this applicant pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy.  Review of applications will then stop for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.

Adjunct (part-time) faculty to teach courses in Spanish. Depending upon the program’s needs and the candidate’s qualifications, teaching assignments may be on LCC’s downtown campus, at an extension center (within 40 miles of the downtown campus), and/or via online delivery methods. Adjunct faculty are expected to work collaboratively with department faculty to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi, to deliver course instruction to students and to be available for student assistance and advising outside of class. Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, professional development activities and other duties as assigned.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Spanish Studies or a Master’s Degree in related field (e.g. linguistics, second language acquisition, language pedagogy) with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish from a regionally accredited institution.

Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English

Must have the ability to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom and must be able to use the technology for the assigned course(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Spanish Language from a regionally accredited college or university; or, PhD in a related field and a minimum of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) of graduate level coursework in the discipline.

College teaching experience both face-to-face and online.
