Adjunct Positions are filled by semester on an as needed basis. Applicants in this applicant pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy. Review of applications will then stop for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.
Adjunct faculty teach courses in Social Work including planning, preparation and delivery of lecture/lab instruction materials at all levels of training. Faculty members also participate in curriculum development and student advising. The teaching style needs to integrate critical thinking and ethical practice to solve problems and connect individuals to resources. Teach the social work skills required for the “helping” interview. Discuss sensitive issues such as populations at risk, lifestyle differences, cultural, ethnic, and religious issues related to social work and social welfare policy. Requires understanding of social justice, social welfare policies and social service delivery systems. Teaching schedules include day and evening courses face-to-face on main campus. Select course may be on-line.
Master Degree or higher, in Social Work from a regionally accredited college or university.
Current full license in the State of Michigan for clinical practice. Michigan LMSW.
Maintain clinical licensure.
Significant years’ social work experience within a community agency with underserved population(s).
Significant years’ work experience with the “helping” interview process.
