Job Summary:
The Full-Time Professional Mental Health Counselor provides mental health and personal counseling services to a diverse student population in support of student well-being, retention, and academic success. The Counselor delivers individual and group counseling, consultation, referral, outreach, and crisis intervention services in accordance with Michigan licensure requirements and the ethical standards of the American Counseling Association; in addition to maintaining a regular in-person, on-campus presence to support students and collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners. This position helps promote a safe, responsive, and supportive learning environment through direct service, campus engagement, and coordinated intervention efforts.
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.
Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Significant documented experience in mental health counseling
Must possess one of the following current Michigan credentials: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW-Clinical), Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW-Clinical), Licensed Psychologist (LP), or Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP)
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience providing mental health services within a community college or higher education setting
Active membership in professional organizations such as the American College Counseling Association (ACCA) or National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
Demonstrated commitment to student equity, success, and inclusion, specifically regarding the needs of underserved and non-traditional students
