Teach courses in Criminal Justice, Adult Corrections, and Juvenile Justice consistent with current developments in the discipline and teaching methods. This faculty member will act as the Local Corrections Officer Academy Program Coordinator, as required by the Michigan Sheriff Correctional Officers’ Training Council. Participate in program/department meetings and divisional/college-wide committees with a focus on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes. Participate in curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing peers, and College initiatives. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy. Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency are a must. This full-time teaching position includes instruction of 16 workload per semester throughout the academic year and oversight of the Corrections Academy. There is a possibility of teaching night and weekend courses, online or hybrid courses
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement/Corrections or related field.
Demonstrated teaching experience as the instructor of record in Criminal Justice.
Five years of work experience in the professional field, of which two (2) years must be in direct control and confinement responsibilities in a secured facility.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration.
Certified Michigan Department of Corrections or Local Corrections Officer.
Experience with alternate delivery methods for courses including online, hybrid, and video.
Knowledge and/or experience in Juvenile Justice.
