Job Summary:

• Sell or assign sales for all ads in The Lookout for each print issue. Sales are done by calling on previous customers, making phone calls, visiting area businesses, contacting colleges and posting ad rates on The Lookout web site;
• Sell ads for The Lookout’s website, which is active year-round;
• Provide friendly, efficient customer service to clients;
• Dress neatly and appropriately for daily duties and, especially, sales meetings;
• Keep accurate records of all sales, outstanding bills and ad sales percentages;
• Provide invoice information to LCC bookkeeper.
• Keep The Lookout adviser informed of all sales records.
• Assist with sales, billing and promotion of classified ads as assigned by adviser;
• Make sure all ads run when they are supposed to run and on the proper pages;
• With help from adviser, rectify any problems advertisers may have by providing explanations, refunds, discounts and/or free ads;
• Send papers to all the people and businesses on The Lookout mailing list by the Wednesday following publication of each issue;
• Keep an accurate and up-to-date mailing list, and supply a copy of the list to the adviser whenever changes are made;
• Assist with circulation duties as assigned by the adviser and circulation manager;
• Meet and enforce all deadlines as set by the adviser and editor; the adviser is the direct supervisor of the advertising manager;
• Be knowledgeable of the campus community, use good judgment and positively represent The Lookout staff when dealing with sources and the public.

Requirements for LCC Student Employment:

The primary purpose of student employment is to provide current LCC students the opportunity to acquire job skills and experiences during semesters in which they are attending classes as follows:
• Enrolled and actively attending the following total LCC credit hours by semester
- Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 credits minimum (taken over 16-week period)
- Summer Semester = 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8-week period)
• 2.00 GPA minimum (unless it’s student's first semester of enrollment at LCC and/or granted approval to waive requirement from the Student Employment Coordinator)
Note: International students (i.e. F-1 visa holders w/ valid I-20 issued by LCC) must meet the following minimum enrollment requirements each semester, in order to maintain employment eligibility per United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USICS):
- Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 credits min. (taken over 16-week period)
- Summer Semester = 3.0 credits min. (taken over 8-week period)

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong people and math skills.
