Functions as the secondary source of instruction in the lab or workshop in support of the instructor of record. Assists students in completing lab projects by providing necessary instruction. Provides logistical support ensuring the lab/workshop is set-up and prepared with all required tools and materials for the assigned class. Maintains all expendable/consumable supplies. Ensures all tools and equipment are accounted for and maintained in appropriate working order. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the lab/shop. In addition to the responsibilities listed above, Lab Assistants may be required to perform other duties as assigned in connection with the overall running of the Design and Construction Technologies program. Must be able to effectively communicate and demonstrate knowledge of specific technical skills in the lab to a diverse student population. Must have the ability to collaborate with students and peers in order to establish a safe environment where safety is not compromised. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of building systems and carpentry skills. The qualified candidate will be familiar with building project setup and have a sound understanding of building structures and techniques. Required skills include basic electrical and heating, ventilation and air conditioning knowledge. This position will require driving College vehicles in the course of its duties.

The successful candidate will possess a High School Diploma with some college coursework in a related field.
Two years’ experience in construction, building project setup, or related area.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record with less than 4 points
An Associate’s Degree is preferred.
