The Tutorial Education Coordinator, working in conjunction with the Director of Academic Support and Learning Assistance, is an integral member of the Learning Commons administration and Leadership Team. This position provides administrative leadership to faculty and staff and works collaboratively with academic programs and College services to ensure excellent academic tutorial support, instruction, and learning assistance. This is done in alignment with the LCC Mission, Vision, and strategic initiatives to increase Student Success, which includes retention, persistence, and completion. The Tutorial Education Coordinator strives to create an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion by demonstrating a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy. This position will work on campus and remotely; occasional nights and weekends as required.
Bachelor's Degree (from a regionally accredited college or university) or equivalent combination of education and experience in an academic area.
Demonstrated professional work experience Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Teaching Assistant, Advising, Counseling, Academic Coaching, Teaching or some combination.
Experience working with diverse populations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Experience using virtual communication platforms e.g. WebEx, Skype, Zoom, etc.
Master's Degree (from a regionally accredited college or university)
Demonstrated progressive leadership and/or administrative responsibilities.
Experience working in an academic assistance program in higher education, college, or university setting
Experience Tutoring, or Supplemental Instruction, or Teaching Assistant, or Advising, or Counseling, or Coaching, or Teaching or some combination in higher education
Familiarity with adult learning practices that promote effective teaching and learning
Working knowledge of LCC systems and applications e.g. BANNER, D2L, etc.
