Job Summary:

The primary purpose of student employment is to provide current LCC students with the opportunity to acquire job skills and experiences during semesters while actively attending classes at LCC. Student employees in Learning Commons Department will assist with academic resource services and/or lead peer tutoring/mentoring as assigned to support student success. Peer tutoring/mentoring may be in class with teaching faculty, working with Professional Tutor(s), lead one-on-one sessions and/or small group sessions to assist students with course concepts, study skills and projects from one or more curricular areas. Attend and participate in required trainings, In-Services and staff meetings. Complete required documentation (Worklogs, Contact Logs, Timesheets). May be assigned other occasional tasks in support of the Learning Commons. Evening and weekend work might be required.

Requirements for LCC Student Employment:

Enrolled & actively attending the following minimum LCC credit hours each semester, in order to be work eligible:
       - Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 credits (taken over a minimum 16-week period)
       - Summer Semester = 3.0 credits (taken over a minimum 8-week period)
2.00 GPA minimum (unless it is the student's first semester of enrollment at LCC or approval to waive requirement is granted from the Student Employment Coordinator)

Note: International students (i.e. F-1 visa holders w/ valid I-20 issued by LCC) must meet the following minimum enrollment requirements each semester, in order to maintain employment eligibility per United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USICS):
       - Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 credits (taken over a minimum 16-week period)
       - Summer Semester = 3.0 credits (taken over a minimum period 8-week period)

High School Diploma, or GED, or completed two semesters LCC Early College; and actively pursuing a certificate, associates or undergraduate degree @ LCC

Additional Position Requirements:

• Faculty recommendation (upload with application or delivered to Learning Commons)
• Completion of paid onboarding, training and professional development program in the Learning Commons (upon hire)
• Minimum GPA of 2.50 at LCC or from high school (most recent high school or college transcript(s) required to upload with application)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3.00 GPA or higher at LCC or from high school (most recent high school or college transcript(s) required to upload with application)
• Successful completion of, or currently enrolled in, course(s) being recommended by faculty for peer tutoring/mentoring
• Experience tutoring, mentoring, teaching, and/or coaching
• Experience in customer service
• Availability to work for two or more semesters
